about

my style

My photography style is considered lifestyle, which captures natural, real-life interactions, with a combination of candid and posed images as well. I photograph your connections, emotions, and expressions so that you can remember how you felt during this time in your life.

I photograph on-location, primarily outdoors, in beautiful, natural settings. If there is a location that holds special meaning or significance to you, please let me know! For the best light of the day, I prefer to photograph either early morning or early evening - the sunny, golden hour (when it’s available) or soft overcast light.

FAQ's

What type of Lifestyle Portrait Sessions do you offer?
  • I photograph engagements, vow renewals, proposals, anniversaries, families, maternity, and senior portraits.

What should I expect from our Session with you?
  • First and foremost, it’s important to me that you and your loved ones feel comfortable and relaxed, and enjoy the experience of being photographed.
  • Before your Session - To help me plan and to get to know you and your loved ones better, I will send you a brief online questionnaire. We can discuss (via email, phone, or in person) what you’re visualizing, and I’ll answer any questions you may have on how to prepare. If you have any creative ideas, please let me know - I’m happy to incorporate them and would love your input!
  • During your Session - Relax and love on your loved ones! We’ll spend the first part of your Session getting comfortable and will start with candid shots, moving on to more naturally guided portraits.
  • After your Session - I will carefully select the best images from your Session for editing. Your final images will be uploaded to your password-protected Online Image Gallery within 3 weeks after our Session, ready for you to download. Based on what your plans are for your images, whether it be wall displays (prints, canvas, etc.), albums, cards, or announcements, I can recommend my preferred, professional vendors.

How far in advance should I book my Session?
  • As soon as you know that you’d like to schedule a Session, I would recommend that you contact me so that I can get you on my calendar. I photograph part-time and I accept a limited number of Sessions each month – summer, fall, and weekend dates book up quickly and I usually schedule 1 to 2 months in advance.

What time of day should we schedule our Session?
  • For the softest, most beautiful light, I prefer to schedule all of my Sessions 1 ½ – 2 hours before sunset (the “golden hour”) or in the early morning. Since we live in the PNW, there is a good chance there may not be sun on your session day; that said, overcast conditions are beautiful too.

What is your Session cancellation policy?
  • Life, like our weather, is unpredictable! I understand that circumstances may happen outside of your control (sickness, etc.) so please contact me as soon as possible if you need to cancel and reschedule your Session.

What if it’s raining/inclement weather on our scheduled Session date?
  • As we all know, PNW weather is unpredictable! I photograph on-location, primarily outdoors, so if the weather prevents me from capturing the best possible images for you OR if there is a possibility that you and your loved ones will be uncomfortable (wet, cold, etc.) in the elements, we will need to reschedule. On the days leading up to your Session, I will closely monitor the forecast. If there is a possibility of inclement weather (rain, wind, or if it’s freezing), I’ll reach out to you so that we can make a decision about rescheduling.
Are you licensed and fully insured?
  • Yes!

May we include our pet(s) in our Session?
  • As long as the location we choose allows it, absolutely!

What should we wear?

Session-specific Planning Tips
  • Families with small children: I realize that the concept of family photos may seem stressful, but my intention for these Sessions is to make it a fun experience for you and your loved ones.
  • Please don’t worry about your kids looking or acting perfect – kids will be kids and it’s my job to capture the real moments! I appreciate free-spirited kids and want to capture their natural sense of curiosity and fun - their “child-like enthusiasm,” if you will. We’ll get great shots, I promise.
  • I recommend that your kids are fed and well-rested before our Session. Please bring along a favorite toy or two, which I may use to hold their attention during their photographs.
  • Maternity: The best time to schedule your Session is generally between 30-34 weeks. If you're expecting 2+, it’s recommended to schedule a little earlier (at the 6th or 7th month).

How many images will we receive?
  • For a 1 hour Session, you will receive between 50 - 150 images

Where should I print my images?
  • I will provide you with a list of my favorite local and online vendors

Do you offer any packages or discounts?
  • Yes!  Return clients receive $100 off their next Session

OK, I’m ready to book a Session with you! What’s my next step?

Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions.
I’d love to hear from you!
